As I have go through life I realize more and more that I do not fit within the norms of society. Most people I interact with on a non-personal level will inevitably call me a curmudgeon, but I have realized they are just misunderstanding my feelings. It is not that I hate things, so much as I don't care about the things most people have an enjoyment, or passion for.
Here is the ever growing list:
- Star Wars: I don't care about the space wizards. I find the graphics amazing and there are a few stories (Andor, Rogue One, The Mandalorian) that I enjoy. But over all the stories are boring and rather pointless to me.
- I started to laugh in episode 9 when Kylo (I had to look up his name) was force choking Rae. All I could think about about was what that was like acting with no reality being the situation.
- Lord of The Rings: What a long and boring story that was. Randal's interpretation of the story in Clerks II was exactly right.
- Story Spoilers: Some people get really twisted about a movie spoiling a book, or someone telling end to a show, etc. I never understood why someone cares. There are two outcomes to knowing.
- You now know and don't care to watch/read/play/whatever the rest. Well you just saved time and can move on to other things. If you don't care to continue, it wasn't important enough.
- You realize that the journey to the spoiled is just as interesting as the spoil itself. I love sitting there wondering how they got to that point, when everything else is leading in a different direction.
- Hyperion/Snow Crash: These are two books that I absolutely loved until the end. Both had amazing and interesting stories, but both failed to bring it to an actual close. One ends with a pointless the princess is in another castle moment, the other was clearly a sign of I just want this damn thing done.
- Hate the Artist not the Art: I have learned that some art is too good to ignore, but man it sucks when it came from truly terrible artists.
- Harry Potter - A fun story with so much imagination, but is coming from an author who will end on the wrong side of history. It is so sad that she couldn't just shut the fuck up and live her life without opening her mouth through a bull horn.
- Michael Jackson - Love his music, but do not love his personality and what he became.
- and on and on.
Lets be clear non of this is ever set in stone. If you can convince me that my position is wrong, then I will happily change my position.
